Adjetivos - Comparativos - Superlativos

Normas para convertir los Adjetivos a Comparativos o a Superlativos. Éstas normas están basadas fundamentalmente en el número de sílabas que tenga el Adjetivo:

- Con 1 sílaba, se les añade '-er' para Comparativos y '-est' para Superlativos:

adjetivo - comparativo - superlativo

cold - colder - (the) coldest

tall - taller - (the) tallest

Elisa is taller than Anna.

John is the fastest.

- Con 3 ó más sílabas, se les anticipa la palabras 'less/more' para Comparativos o 'least/most' para Superlativos:

 adjetivo - comparativo - superlativo

expensive - less expensive - (the) least expensive

beautiful - more beautiful - (the) most beautiful

My car is more expensive than yours.

This is the most beautiful photo.

- Con 2 sílabas:

• Los acabados en 'y', se les cambia por 'i' añadiéndole la terminación '-er' para Comparativos y '-est' para Superlativos:

 adjetivo - comparativo - superlativo

 happy - happier - (the) happiest

 easy - easier - (the) easiest

Spanish is easier than English

John is the happiest

• La mayoría (no todos) del resto de adjetivos con 2 sílabas, se les trata igual que a los de 3 sílabas:

 adjetivo - comparativo - superlativo

honest - more honest - (the) most honest

* Excepciones:

rude - ruder - (the) rudest

stupid - stupider - (the) stupidest
clever - cleverer - (the) cleverest
smart - smarter - (the) smartest
...

* Si el Adjetivo termina en vocal y consonante; la consonante se duplica:

big - bigger - (the) biggest

* Los Comparativos, se usan para comparar 2 (personas, cosas, acciones, grupos, etc.).

* Superlativos, se usan para decir el que más (grande, rápido, bonito, etc.).

* Los Comparativos pueden ser Adjetivos o Adverbios.

• Adjetivos para personas o cosas.
• Adverbios para acciones.

* A los Superlativos se les suele acompañar con Present Perfect:

It's the most beautiful church I've ever seen
